Chapter 10

Chapter 10 focuses on post-production, primarily editing techniques that bring footage to life! Covering basic principles like cutting on action, matching shots for continuity, and the importance of pacing to maintain engagement. It also emphasizes the editor’s role in shaping the narrative by guiding viewers not only visually but emotionally through the story. By applying these editing fundamentals, filmmakers can effectively structure their footage to create a compelling final piece.

Abby Powledge – the way that i am (live from my dorm room!!)

This video takes a more unique approach at it’s editing style because the song itself was recorded in one take. While the song was recorded in one take, there are different camera angles that they flip between to provide variation throughout the video and the change in angles is slow and relaxed. These two aspects give a more organic feeling which matches the “live from my dorm room!!” setting.

Barbie (2023) – “Weird Barbie” Scene

This scene in Barbie uses a plethora of different filming techniques that make the editing style so unique. Starting off strong with a good mix of wide shots and close ups mixed with the use of perspective and angle changes that keep the viewer engaged in the conversation Barbie and Weird Barbie are having. It’s pretty fast paces which reflects Barbie’s urgency to figure out why her feet are flat and then the urgency of the mission she has to embark on.

Professor McGonagall Protects Hogwarts | Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2

This scene is the definition of drama. The editing pace is is slower and stretched out to emphasize how grave and important of an event prepping for this battle is. The use of zooming in and out of the characters is also a tactic provide perspective and to emphasize drama.

With my Canon Rebel T7 and tripod in hand, I set off on the trail to capture the natural beauty that it has to offer each individual who visits. After I collected my footage, I imported everything it into Adobe Premier Pro and got to editing.

I am proud to present the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail Montage:
