Madison Vale, also known as Maddie, is a senior graphic and interactive design student in the 3+1 communications program at Quinnipiac University. In addition to her major, Madison is pursuing a minor in studio art as she feels that the two programs complement each other nicely. Madison is involved in many organizations on campus, including being the editor-in-chief of The Summit Yearbook, captain of the Quinnipiac Pep Band, and a member of the Quinnipiac University Dance Team.
Madison chose to take the interactive media and communications path for the plus one year of her program because she has always had a strong interest in digital media and creative work. When it came to choosing a major and college back in high school, Madison knew she wanted a program that would allow her to pursue creativity and further her knowledge of social media, and Quinnipiac’s 3+1 program offered just that. Through the courses she has taken at Quinnipiac, these interests have only grown stronger, and have played a crucial role in why she believes that the ICM program is the right fit for her.
Some of Madison’s favorite pieces of work come from her time in motion graphics and social media campaign design with Professor Laurie Grace. It is through working with Professor Grace that Madison feels she has produced high quality work in areas of design which she feels best suits her strengths. One of these pieces includes her motion graphics final. A 30-second rotoscoped dance video which consists of 300+ hand traced frames. When put together, the viewer is presented with a fully choreographed and rotoscoped dance to the song “Bloodline” by Luke Hemmings. Her favorite part of this piece is that it not only displays a talent for motion graphics but her passion for dance, as the dancer used in the reference video is Madison herself. Being able to combine her passions is a highlight of being in a creative program, the possibilities are endless. Watch Bloodline here.
Upon graduating from the ICM program, Madison hopes to find a career in which she can combine her creative passions through social media work.
